On March 21st I will be competing in the Mrs. Idaho International pageant. The focus behind Mrs. International pageants is to showcase married women of each state between 21 to 56 years old. Each contestant competes in an interview, evening gown and fitness wear competition. As a contestant, I have the opportunity to select a platform that I will spend the year promoting...my platform is the Special Olympics in loving memory of my dear friend Kristy Townsend (1985-2005).
What makes you a role model?
I constantly dream big and raise myself a little higher with each goal I set. This is the key to who I am and what makes me unique, there are not enough dreamers! Along with achieving my goals I also am incredibly honest and sincere which makes me a real woman and a real role model.
What do you like to do in your free time?
I have many pastimes but my favorite thing to do in my free time is bargain shop. This has proven to be therapeutic in my sometimes stressful life and has become one of my greatest talents. As a young married woman I can’t afford not to bargain hunt and I have developed several rules to keep me focused. Who knows, maybe I’ll become the next Suzie Orman and write a book one day!
What is your favorite family tradition?
Making and eating an authentic Italian meal for Christmas dinner. My brother-in-law used to live in
How do you plan to make a difference with your platform?
I will continue my work with my differently-abled friends that I love so much! Nothing pleases me more than commemorating my dear friend Kristy’s life through volunteering and encouraging others to volunteer for the Special Olympics Organization.
What is something few people know about you?
My first kiss was at age 19 by the man I now call my husband. I was his first kiss too (only he was 22)!
